Yesterday I picked up a favorite book of mine, Stephen Mitchell’s translation of the Tao Te Ching. In it I came across this line: “If you want to be given everything, give everything up.”
We often measure a life by possessions and accomplishments. These categories – possessions and accomplishments – expand as we seek to acquire and collect them.
But it is a fascinating thought to consider what might happen if we paused for a moment and imagined and identified what we might give up in our lives. And by so doing, inviting something to be given to us.
Our 46th Life Equation is To Be Given Everything = Giving Everything Up.
