Steve Aoki is a Grammy-nominated DJ and record producer who launched his record label with $400. He began this daunting task inspired by Malcolm X’s charge that sometimes to achieve a big goal we have to appropriate a mindset of, “by any means necessary.”
This phrase reminds us it’s important to define the “means” we will apply towards a goal. Aoki interpreted this as choosing to eliminate excuses and invite in creativity, setting aside doubts and embracing persistence.
