The Pain Of Success

Yesterday I came across a fascinating approach to pain by famous long distance runner Eliud Kipchoge who shared that, “When you are truly working towards success, you will know because you will undergo pain.”

Eliud’s point is that he’s trained his brain not to be surprised by pain, especially as he is finishing a race. As he observes, “I try to control my brain and tell myself, listen: where the pain increases, that is where the success is.”

We often try to avoid or mute pain. But what might change in our lives if we perceived, or framed, pain as a consequence of the pursuit of success?
