Once Fear Has Departed

I started to read the book Dune this week. Perhaps you have seen the movies. The author Frank Herbert creates a religious group called the Bene Gesserit and fans of the book know they have a famous approach to fear. They use and say these words:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

How do you relate to fear in your life?

What might happen if today you let it pass over and through you, rather than to dwell and to remain?

What might you discover in that empty place where fear was and has now departed?
