A Sustaining Touch

I don’t usually touch nature. I gaze at it. I appreciate its colors. But on a walk a few days ago I came across rows of tall plants with 5-inch cones on the top. There’s a picture of one at on-emotions.com.

Usually, I would have walked right past these plants, but lately I’ve been opening myself to how our senses can sustain us. So I decided to touch it and the cone felt like cotton balls and down feathers. The sensation made me smile.

The world presents small miracles to us everyday. These are moments we can miss, or as I discovered on my walk, we can stop and experience them through touch.
