You As A Work of Art

I decided to reread one of my favorite books this morning, The Creative Act by Rick Rubin where he writes, “You exist as a creative being in a creative universe. A singular work of art.”

We often measure our lines by comparing ourselves to others. Our homes, apartments, cars, clothes, etc. become a standard by which we assess if our lives are a success or not.

But Ruben offers this fascinating invitation: what if we saw ourselves as a work of art that only we can create. Art can be, for example, beautiful, inspiring, disturbing, thought provoking, etc. What if those were the types of categories with which we framed and even measured our lives?
