In this season of political division I was thinking recently about the atom. It’s remarkable to consider how one of the smallest things in the universe also unifies us. Because the atom found in a rose in Paris, a tank in Ukraine, and in your best friend’s curly hair, is the same. It sounds like a cliché when we say we have more that unites us than divides us, but it is in fact, true. The atom is a real example, metaphor, and a reminder, if we look closely, what we will discover is what we have in common.
