I was on a film shoot yesterday and it occurred to me how much easier it is to navigate a project if we cultivate an attitude that recognizes a successful outcome might require a sequence of small yeses.
As we begin our project, for example, we likely need assistance (a “yes”) from the first person we meet. That first “yes” begins our yes journey. Soon to follow is likely another opportunity for the answer to a question we’re asking to be, “yes.” And so it goes, one small “yes” leads to another until a sequence of small yeses results in the yes we hope to hear, a final “yes.”
