Between Ceiling And Floor

The US Open is occurring right now and for the first time in many years the big three – Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer – are out of the tournament because of losses and retirement. A few new stars have emerged, including Carlos Alcarez, but their performances, although exciting, are at times still inconsistent.

In an article by James Hansen about those three legends he made this interesting point, “The height of their floor was as important as the height of their ceiling, meaning that the gap between their best and their worst was pretty small.“

At we develop our physical, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional skills, a goal is to decrease the distance between the height of our accomplishments and the floor of our setbacks. The tighter we make that gap – between our ceiling and floor – the closer we move to realizing our true potential.
