If you are tracking Olympic basketball the United States made an enormous comeback against Serbia on Thursday to make it to today’s Gold Medal game. Seth Curry led the team with 36 points. In a press conference he said this, “You live for those moments… I shot three times last game and I wasn’t looking to force it because that’s not what the game called for.” But in this game the defense presented situations to Curry where he could shoot and he took advantage of those opportunities.
Being part of a team, as well as a leader, involves learning to recognize it is almost never helpful to try to force something, but rather the task is to pay close attention to, as Curry phrases it, “what the game calls for.”
