But It’s Happening

Noted American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe once gave this advice, “You want to be able to pick up on the magic of the moment. That’s the rush of doing photography. You don’t know why it’s happening, but it’s happening.”

There are two ways of being present in the moment. 

The first is to ask why something is happening, seeking to analyze the cause creating the effect you are experiencing.

The other is to believe “magic” is real, and events happen that have a cause beyond our ability to comprehend or anticipate.
