I continue to enjoy reading Chuang Tzu, the 4th century BCE philosopher. Today he made this point:
“People do not see their reflection
In turbulent waters,
They see their reflection
In still water.”
To truly see ourselves – our hopes, anxieties, fears, addictions, and potential – we need to find still water that can reflect who we are and can become. That still water can be a person, book, painting, athletic pursuit, or a mirror in which we can see and study our reflection.
