The NBA playoffs started yesterday. Our family are Boston Celtics fans and they are playing the Miami Heat. In the Boston Globe they interviewed Heat coach Eric Spoelstra, who has won 2 championships, about Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, coaching in his second season, and he made this comment:
“Joe… was a very good assistant coach so he was well prepared. If you go into an organization where there are big expectations, you learn and do things probably five times quicker maybe than other places because you have those playoff experiences and expectations.”
It’s interesting to consider what sets apart a championship team from a team that does not have those aspirations. Learning and doing things five times faster is a significant differentiation.
If you have a big goal in your life, are you playing with the speed necessary to achieve it? If not, can you learn and do things that will make you successful quicker?
