Yesterday I came across and bought an orange stapler shaped like a smiling whale. You’ll find a photo of it at on-emotions.com.
I can’t remember buying a stapler before, but its design brought a smile to my face. I appreciated the creativity and even joy that must have been involved in making it.
I learned later it’s called a Klizia 97 and is hand-assembled in a four-person factory in Cologno Monzese, Italy and created by the stationery designer Oscar Lepre in 1977.
Why do I mention this? I’ve often thought a good measure of how our life is going is if anything we come across in our day makes us unexpectedly smile. In other words, do we notice or miss the day’s Klizia 97?
