Cutting The Gap

Alabama football couch Nick Saban invited Kobe Bryant to talk to the team and what Bryant said was, “I knew I could never be perfect, but I was always cutting the gap between where I was and perfect. I knew I could never get there, but it didn’t matter.”

What I appreciate about Bryant’s image is it suggests cutting the gap in the smallest increment is the goal and is progress. A cut can be as slim as a wafer, but that is still improvement and to be celebrated.

Where our Bryant journey begins is with studying our own gap and deciding how and where we will cut.
