Willie Nelson is known for writing songs like Crazy, Always on My Mind, and On the Road Again. This week I came across his song Energy Follows Thought. The lyric reads:
Imagine what you want / Then get out of the way
Remember energy follows thought / So be careful what you say
Be careful what you ask for/ Make sure it’s really what you want
Because your mind is made for thinking/ And energy follows thought
It’s worth asking, in what direction do our thoughts steer? On what do we ruminate? And what topics, themes, do we repeat? Because if our energy follows the direction of our thoughts, we might want to consider the content, as likely that is where we are directing and spending our energy.
