The Work Will Teach You

At times we might wonder how we will accomplish a big goal we have set for ourselves (or someone has set for us), especially when it involves stepping out and beyond our comfort zone.

When we find ourselves in such a situation we can view the challenge as offering us either an adversary or a mentor.

The first option often leads to doubt, anxiety and stress.

But if we perceive a big goal as a mentor our perspective can shift from anticipating conflict to opening ourselves to learning new ideas and skills. Physicist Frank Wilczek helpfully frames it this way, “The work will teach you how to do it.”
