A book I return to every year is Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss, where he interviews athletes, authors, and entrepreneurs for advice on topics such as productivity and creativity.
An idea Ferriss shares which influenced him personally is being taught by Tony Robbins to identify, as Ferriss puts it, “knots in the garden hose.”
Meaning, we ask ourselves, what are the things, ideas, people, habits, beliefs that are limiting my potential? Where is there a knot in my life preventing me from becoming my best self?
Ferriss admits one of his “top 3 limiting beliefs was thinking ‘I’m not hardwired for happiness,’” which he then slowly unknotted and “replaced with ‘Happiness is my natural state.’” Making that change in his mindset led to steady and significant improvement in his attitude towards his surroundings and life.
Is there a knot in your garden hose?
What might happen if you worked to release it and to let that aspect of your life flow freely?
