Mason Currey published a wonderful book called Daily Rituals that describes how famous people structure their lives.
Benjamin Franklin, for example, made detailed plans to seek what he called “moral perfection.” You’ll find a fascinating photograph of one of Franklin’s plans at on-emotions.com.
What Franklin would often identify was a single virtue he would try to focus on for the week. The idea was if he focused on it for a week then it would likely become a habit.
Prudentius was a poet and ascetic who in the 5th century was one of the first to make a list of seven virtues. His list included good works, patience, chastity, concord (opposite of discord), faith, sobriety and humility.
Is there one virtue you might focus on this week? One virtue that might become a habit?
