We were at a restaurant celebrating a milestone last night and wanted to order dessert. I asked our server what he thought about the Torta al Cioccolato, described as gluten-free and a “homemade cocoa and almond flour cake, with vanilla gelato.”
He paused for a micro-second and said “well, it’s a seller.”
I laughed, and catching the hint behind his pause and comment asked, “what would you order?” He said, “the cheesecake with wild berry sauce.”
I went to the bathroom and when I returned two desserts were on the table. Lynn smiled and said, “the server mentioned that along with the cheesecake he recommended, the other dessert is the one you wanted to order, and he said it’s on the house.” You’ll find a photo of the two deserts at on-emotions.com
This is a little story, I know. Easily forgotten. But it also felt there was something there. Namely, a reminder if we listen, there is always wisdom waiting to guide us. Insight, experience, and even generosity, waiting to point us in the better direction.
The dessert on the house, well, it was good, but not necessarily great. The cheesecake? It was incredible.
