What do Mark Twain, Jesus, the Dalai Lama and a friend of ours have in common?
They all said something profound about how to approach our instinct to worry.
After discussing a complicated project our friend said, “well, let’s wait to worry.”
We thought that was brilliant – wait to worry.
In other words, let’s put off worrying right now, and let’s wait and see what happens.
Mark Twain quipped, ”I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.” Jesus said, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” The Dalai Lama said, “If a problem is fixable,… there is no need to worry. If it’s not fixable, then there is no help in worrying.”
Or as our friend said, “let’s wait to worry.”
