Sanity is My Deadline

I was once asked by my office manager when my deadline was for a project. It had been a difficult week so I smiled and said off the top of my head, “Sanity is my deadline.”

The word “sanity” comes from an Old French word sanité that means “health” and the Latin word sanitatem which means “soundness of mind and body.”

There are times when we have to meet a deadline at all costs, including a negative impact on our health and our soundness of mind and body.

But if we find every deadline is having that affect on us, we might need to re-think our approach and priorities.

Maybe then we need to create a new category, calling it not a “deadline,” but a “healthline.”
