Editing Happiness

“Even the longest biography is only 66 hours on audio,” writes Seth Godin. ”This means that the author has to leave out almost everything. We write our own autobiography each day by deciding what to focus on, what to rehash, and what to worry about. The same life story can be told in many ways, and the way we tell it changes who we are and who we become. Who is editing your version?”

The most powerful choice we can make in our lives is decide to become our own emotional editor.

We have the power to set aside painful memories and emotions from our life story while leaving in joyful and happy moments. We can even rearrange the sequence of events, begin in the middle, or with the end, or with right now.

If you did that, edited all the joyful and happy situations in your life as if they flowed together as one story, how might your perspective on your life change?
